“Centrul de Tranzit pentru Minori Sf. Nicolae"
In 2003 the management of the A.S. Company Group in Germany initiated its support of children in need. A decision was made to support a project in Temesvar.

The home
The home offers approximately 25 – in winter many more – children a chance. There they are cared for by volunteer, unsalaried members. For the first time they are taught what hygiene means, they have the facilities which enable them to wash themselves and they are cared for medically. Priority is given here to examinations for the presence of TBC, hepatitis B, syphilis and aids.

In many cases they are simply given a chance to survive when they are “collected” in the winter so they don’t have to spend the night in the open air.

The A.S. engagement
This project was initiated in Germany in close cooperation with the wife of the mayor of Temesvar, Mrs. Anamaria Ciuhandu.

One week before the St. Nicholas festival on November 29, 2003, representatives of the A.S. Service Group presented the children of the “Centrul de Tranzit pentru Minori Sf. Nicolae" with gifts, candy and a whole small truck filled with new clothing.

In addition, the mayor of the town, Dr. Ing. Gheorghe Ciuhandu, was presented with a donation to be used for furniture, kitchen furniture and appliances and furnishings for the children’s home. The money was contributed by all German companies belonging to the A.S. Service Group.

Plans exist to support the children over a longer period of time during their attendance to school and during their training.
